In 1994 families and interested community members set about developing an agency that would offer the opportunity to have their family member with a disability living closer to home. In seventeen years, Peel Community Living has evolved into a respected, dynamic provider of disability supports operating the length and breadth of the Peel Region in Western Australia.

Peel Community Living is a not for profit organisation funded by the Disability Services Commission. Other funds come from grants obtained from Lotterywest, PEACH (Personnel Employed At Alcoa Charity Help), May Day, Helping Hands and Alcoa.

Independence and active citizenship are both prized and promoted across all programs. We aim to provide a rich and diverse range of opportunities for community participation and an improved quality of life for the people we support.

A dedicated team of support workers support and promote the dignity of the people we support to enhance their quality of life so they can live an ordinary life in their community, enabling each person’s independence to the best of their ability. This is at times not an easy task. The Peel Community Living supervisory team led by the Program Manager, Accommodation Manager and ATE Coordinator support staff on a daily basis.

The Peel Community Living administration team led by the Administration and Finance Manager ensures the smooth running of all things financial and administrative.

Linley Road:

Peel Community Living are very proud to announce the opening of Linley Road, a duplex home built by the Department of Housing. The building of this home was supported by the Disability Service Commission. Linley Road will be home to eight individuals. These individuals have ageing and health issues which require an increased level of support including the use of hoists and wheelchair appropriate facilities. At present we are depending on a portable hoist to assist with lifting and moving individuals. It is hoped that in the future we will be able to install overhead ceiling hoisting to ensure continuity of care as individuals health declines and support needs increase. Peel Community Living will continue fundraising to purchase the hoisting system and other requirements for the home.

The home will open on Wednesday 16 November. Prior to the opening staff will be undertaking training in a variety of areas. Staff have been busy cleaning, shopping, filling cupboards and generally preparing for the big day.
